Italian fashion house Versace has announced that Lady Gaga is the new face of their Spring/Summer 2014 campaign shot by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott.
Mert Alas posted the first campaign image on Instagram on Saturday, which was followed by Versace posting the news across its social networks.
Shortly after Versace had confirmed the news Lady Gaga tweeted saying, “I’m so happy to be working w/ @Versace for the new Campaign!”
In the ad the singer reclines on a satin sofa wearing a lilac cutout bodycon dress from Versace’s forthcoming collection, complete with a body chain featuring the brand’s signature lion-head. With long blonde hair and a steely gaze, Gaga embodies the brand’s creative director to a T.
Gaga has always been a loyal Versace fan since Donatella dressed her for her 2011 music video ‘Edge of Glory’ and at last night’s American Music Awards Gaga showcased three Versace outfits. Arriving on a ‘human horse’, she wore the exact same dress featured in the ad before two more outfit changes into different Versace designs.
And not forgetting the singer’s new ARTPOP album which features a track entitled ‘Donatella’ where Gaga sings “Who’s that bitch, she so thin, she’s so rich and so blonde, she’s so fab, it’s beyond…”
