When planning our wardrobe for over the Winter period we are automatically drawn to dark colours – blacks, blues and greys. This year, why not add a splash of colour to our wardrobe? Let’s reinvent our dark colour palette with floral prints that have a midnight twist.

As seen on the Autumn/Winter catwalks, dark florals have made an appearance in all the well known designer fashion houses such as Mulberry, who paraded the prints in an effortless performance, showcasing structured dresses with soft delicate rose prints, on luxurious silk fabric. Givenchy also followed with a fresh, fierce take on this trend.

Lucinda Chambers, Vogue’s fashion director explains the trend: “flocked fabrics and lace overlays added an air of ornateness, putting a fresh spin on the idea of flowers in winter.”

Think midnight forests, dark and beautiful moonlit roses, and beautiful paintings onto soft silky fabrics. Burnt orange tones on navy cotton dresses, red hues delicately placed onto black skater skirts…our idea of flower power has been changed for good.
