The Best Place For Beauty Shopping

There’s nothing I love more than a good bout of retail therapy. As much as I love browsing the aisles of H&M and Topshop, there’s not one thing that makes me happier than shopping for beauty products.

Nowhere in the North East quenches my thirst for beauty shopping more than Newcastle city centre.

Eldon Square houses not one, not two, not three, but four glorious beauty halls (Fenwicks being my fave – I can’t get enough Jo Malone) and proudly sports a ginormous branch of Boots. In my opinion, however the piece de resistance comes in the form of the Aladdin’s Cave that is Space NK in Central Arcade.

I find a trip to Space NK to not only whet my appetite for luxury beauty bits, but also act as a relaxing break from the hustle and bustle of busy Grainger Street. Upon entering the store you’re greeted with the beautiful scent of a Diptyque candle – they’re always burning a white wick over at the counter – and shelves upon shelves of the best products that the beauty world has to offer.

I took to the streets of Newcastle to find out where others like to stock up on their makeup essentials.

Abbie Morris, 18, from Barnsley, said: “As I’m a student, I tend to mainly buy makeup from Boots and Superdrug, but if I fancy splashing out I’ll visit Debenhams beauty hall and pay a visit to Urban Decay.”

Jessica Markham, 25, of Heaton, told me: “There’s something that little bit special about John Lewis, the Crème De La Mer fish tank just adds a sophisticated edge to the store.”

From Superdrug to Space NK, Newcastle city centre has all of your beauty buying needs covered – whatever your budget!
