Get your gladrags on because the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour arrives in Newcastle this week!
The hit show, along with celebrities, dancers and most importantly, those amazing outfits will soon be hitting the Metro Radio Arena on January 30. Ahead of this sequin-filled event, Fashion North takes a look back our stand out costumes of the series.
DSI London, who provided the costumes for this season’s contestants and the tour, designed a stunning array of approximately 200 Ballroom and Latin ensembles for the entire series.
The designers were often pushed to create these stunning costumes in only a few days, as the garments were produced on a weekly timescale.
Movement is a key factor in the design of a dress. For example, tassels are imperative in a Charleston dress due to the amount of high leg, staccato movements involved in the dance whereas full-length, floaty and scallop hemmed gowns are more appropriate for the American Smooth due to the natural rise and fall in the footwork.
With all four finalists taking part in the tour, we just had to include some of their outfits in our favourite frocks list. We hope to see these, along with some new designs floating around the dance floor come Thursday.
To see a selection of those stunning outfits again, book your ticket to see the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour at the Newcastle Metro Radio Arena here.
