What started out as a small vintage fair in their hometown of York has now turned into a nationwide experience for ‘Britain does Vintage’ event organizers Alex and Sam, who are bringing their vintage experience to Durham and Newcastle.
The vintage duo are arriving with their 30 or so traders to Durham’s Marriott Hotel ‘Royal County’ on March 1.
If you cannot make the Durham event, then another one will be held in Newcastle at the Theatre Royal on April 13 with 40 stalls. Both events start at 10:30am and finish at 4:30pm with £1 entry per person.
The variety of stalls on offer is endless with something for everyone from women’s clothing, jewellery, bags and hats. To home wear, crockery and pictures. The vintage loving twosome have also sourced local “key traders” in old school menswear. Other stalls on display are free workshops and tearooms.
If you have never been to a vintage fair, do not worry as Alex has given her top three tips on how to get the best from the event:
1) Stick to a budget and bring cash – The majority of the sellers don’t have card machines.
2) Rummage – Sellers bring lots of stock so dig deep (for victory), move boxes you never know what amazing things might be lying in bottom of a box or at the back of rails.
3) Bring family and friends – Make a day of it. Reminisce with older family members or bag a bargain with younger ones and have fun!
If you cannot make the up and coming dates then fear not, ‘Britain does Vintage’ are back through out the year in both Durham and Newcastle, check out their website for details – www.britaindoesvintage.co.uk.
So what are you waiting for, your vintage fair needs you! Recruit your family and friends and have a good old-fashioned day out.
