Anya Hindmarch showcased her own grocery-based creations at London Fashion Week this year and in Paris, Karl Lagerfeld has completely blown her out of the water.
Lagerfeld invited guests to the ‘Chanel shopping centre’ where shoppers were chic and Chanel brand food was plentiful. The shopping centre featured Chanel spaghetti, Chanel ketchup, Chanel ham, Chanel eggs, and even black Chanel rubber gloves with white roses.
Models walked through the isles and shopped with sunglasses hanging from their baskets and tweed braids in their hair.
With an abundance of pastel pinks, swing jackets and a generous helping of tweed, Lagerfeld went against the traditional elegance of the brand to create a jaw dropping expedition.
Finishing the show arm in arm with Cara Delevingne, who was pretty in pink in a moth eaten two-piece with metallic trainers, Lagerfeld definitely drew in the attention that he was aiming for.
Lagerfeld stated himself: “What I do Coco would have hated. The label has an image and it’s up to me to update it.”
By vacuum packing a vintage Chanel 2.55 bag, and showcasing the brand rather than the clothing with eccentricity at every turn, he has definitely updated the image, and as stated, Coco would have definitely hated it.
