Balenciaga SS14 Campaign
Sports Luxe has been creeping and evolving its way up the catwalk for the past few years.
This season it continues in the direction of sleek, minimal and luxurious. Between sports caps, trainer wedges, and high fashion jump suits, Sport Luxe was everywhere.
It’s one of the biggest looks for Spring/Summer and why wouldn’t you want to have a whack at it? You don’t have to be a fan of sport to be wearing it, and these sports-inspired clothes are flattering, flexible and comfy.
It may only seem like yesterday when sportswear was all about throwing on a pair of loose jogging bottoms, baggy t-shirt and sports cap. It’s no longer about athletic influences, the unexpected styling of luxe fabrics used to balance out the relaxed silhouette has got everyone lusting over it.
Here is how some designer’s did it. Alexander Wang’s second show for Balenciaga was definitely a favourite for this trend; he paired minimal, pretty structured cropped tops with tennis short skirts and long boxers. The bare midriff is here to stay by the looks of it!
Marni as well was on top with this trend and also threw in a few bomber jackets as well. These jackets were matched with skirt suits and were literally dripped in crystals and sequins. This may not be something we are all screaming to run and buy and it would be difficult to find on the high street but nevertheless it gives us all some impression to the styling.
Now let’s go to the high street, nearly all the shops have some sports luxe hidden away even some you would necessarily think about.
Marks and Spencer’s for example have this beautifully patterned bomber jacket priced at £55. The store maynot be everyone’s cup of tea, but this shows M&S’s ability to stay on trend. Pair it with white trousers and brown sandals you’ll look perfect.
Jumpsuits are perfect for this trend and one of the most comfortable pieces of clothing you will ever own so this is a must!
This Mesh Detail Jumpsuit from Missguided at £29.99 is an absolutely brilliant price. You can wear it night and day, which is always a plus.
ASOS also has a big collection for you all to get your peepers looking at.
This sweat dress with leather look panels is a great garment priced at £65. Tt may be a little pricey but just by looking at it, you feel you can look comfy and stylish in one go.
Now let’s talk shoes, it would be easy to say to get a pair of trainers on and you’re sorted but be careful you don’t want to look too sporty, it’s all about balance.
These have been around for a couple of seasons and if you don’t already have a pair you should!
These River Island black quilted high tops are an easy way to have the sports luxe trend if you don’t fancy the clothes, they are now only £15 in the sale!
As always just scour the internet and high street shops to find the perfect Sports Luxe outfit to suit you, there’s so much on offer you will definitely find something.
