At Fashion North, we have a lot of time for a selfie, and last night Newcastle was sent into a selfie-extravaganza as French Connection launched their #CANTHELPMYSELFIE campaign.
Guests were fed by Gusto Newcastle and Pet Lamb Patisserie and received a goodie bag full of delights as well as an abundance of Rekorderlig. They then chose from FCUK Spring/Summer and Pre-Fall ’14 collections, before going upstairs for a makeover by Regis and Benefit Cosmetics.
They then stepped into the ‘F’ emblazoned photo booth and laughed, pouted, and posed for three images, one of which they selected to be projected onto massive window displays. Newcastle’s ogling passers-by voted for their favourites using buttons on the window. The lucky winner will receive £1000 to spend in French Connection and be certified selfie King/Queen.
Lauren Archer was picked by FCUK as their blogger partner through her website Scran On The Tyne to help promote the event, invite local PR/bloggers and sorting out the DJ (DJ LKP) and the food. “The event was a huge success and we toasted it at the official after-party, which was held at MSA on Hood St in Newcastle. There’s an open selfie day on Saturday so shoppers can pop in and have theirs taken (no hair and makeup on Saturday though!) and the booth/window display will be in store until Tuesday).”
The FCUK selfie booth, which is the first live and interactive in-store selfie booth in the UK, has so far stopped off in London Regent St, their flagship store on Oxford Circus, Bluewater in Kent, and Manchester. House of Fraser events are still yet to be confirmed but they will end the last leg of the selfie booth journey. The main press/ blogger evenings where customers can secure a time slot are on Thursday evenings with drop-in events happening the following Saturdays.
Guests are now sharing their pics on Twitter/Facebook using this link: http://selfie.frenchconnection.com/live/
So, if you love a selfie like we do, and love clothes, like we do, the most sensible thing you’ll do this week is head down and strike a pose.
