On Monday 8 September New York’s Central Park experienced something larger than life. Instead of your usual room with a runway or presentation, Ralph Lauren raised the bar in the world of fashion and technology.
Golf buggies drove the invitation holders into Central Park alongside the lake, for what was and still is a spectacular event from New York Fashion Week. An innovative way to showcase a collection is an understatement, as the lake turned into the world’s first 4D projected fashion show. Holographic models showcased the collection by walking on water. Throughout the show the 4D backdrop changed to a number of New York locations, including 5th Avenue and Brooklyn Bridge.
Monochrome was a key trend in this S/S collection, using block colours, stripes and accessories. The practicality of each ensemble is comforting and has a great sense of New York sports-luxe. A touch of St.Trinian blended with Clueless minus the bright colours and you are in the mind of Ralph himself.
Bright hues also took holographic centre stage, with contrasting blue and orange padded body warmers teamed with shorts and bikini bottoms. A daffodil yellow mixed with spring green plaid design shirt released a Clueless atmosphere. Classic bright Polo’s with contrasting logos were collaborated with long sweeping maxi skirts and finalised with mini matching leather satchels.
This shows represents Ralph Lauren at its best, showing it’s practical, stylish and current, not to mention innovative with technology.
