Great British Style Off – We look at the most fashionable baking accessories

In light of yesterday’s (surprising) Great British Bake Off final, we all need something else to fill that pastry-shaped void now that the show has disappeared from our screens. It is now time to bake for ourselves!

Now, if you are a baking virgin and don’t know where to begin, all of the recipes from each week for pastry, biscuits and the like can be found on the BBC website. There are also books filled to the brim with more recipes for you to get stuck into. All you need now is to know where to buy the tools to bake them for yourself, and we’ve done all of the hard work for you.

There are a number of places to go to get the best and most stylish baking equipment without having to spend all of your wages. There are four main shops that have stood out recently for having fashionable and purse-friendly items.

Wilkinson’s and Poundland have been stepping up their baking accessories game with prices ranging from £1 to £20. Wilkinson’s in particular has a wide range online, and in-store it has areas just for baking equipment and accessories.

Here are the favourites from these two stores:

You can get them online here: Mason Cash 29cm Mixing Bowl Apple, £16.50. Gingerbread Man baking set, £15. Baby pink or cream scales, £10.

Now with the next two shops, they are renowned for their baking sections and it is a big area of their sales. You will know who these two are – Cath Kidston and Laura Ashley. They are the queens of baking equipment, with incredibly chic floral and modern designs. You can’t go into one of their stores and not look at all the pretty designs and want to cram your house with everything they sell. Even though their products are a bit pricey, they are extremely good quality – if you buy an apron or mixing bowl from there you are set for life.

Here are the best items from their shops, even if it was extremely hard to choose. If you’re a student, you can also get 10% off everything all year round with a valid student card. Great News!

Laura Ashley

These are just a selection of the products they have an offer. It is definitely worth having a look for yourself to find something that is right for you.

Have fun with baking as well. It shouldn’t be filled with drama (unlike the bake off with that baked Alaska). If you create any culinary masterpieces share them on our Twitter @fashion_north and tag us on Instagram @fashion_north. We want to see what you can create!
