Trend Spotting: Culottes

Culottes are a huge trend for this summer and I looove them. To be honest it did take me a while to get into them but after purchasing my first pair from Primark at the weekend for only £10 (the most affordable option) I don’t want to take them off. The best trends are those that you can wear for any occasion and even all year round, culottes are definitely one of them. Who doesn’t want to make the most out of their money?

Culottes can be styled in endless ways, so I am here to give you a few outfit ideas so you can rock this trend for summer. Culottes come in a variety of different colours and styles, so they are perfect for everyone. For a super casual look pair a lightly pleated pair of black culottes with your favourite pair of Old Skool Vans and a fitted t-shirt. You can also combine this outfit with another one of our favourite trends; the oversized denim jacket to give your outfit an even more laid back vibe.

Culottes can also be worn to much more formal events such as a wedding, if you want to change up the traditional wedding attire. For an elegant but on trend outfit to get all the guests talking, try matching some baby pink culottes with a pair of strappy nude heels and a Bardot style, fitted, white top to again combine this seasons trends (quick tip: stacking necklaces are a great way to prevent you chest from looking bare when wearing Bardot tops, this is also another trend).

Culottes can be bought so affordably with the best high street price being Primark but if you do like to splurge every now and then on a more luxury item, Karen Millen is also a great option for £120+. They are available in an array of different lengths, colours and sizes so don’t be scared to try out this stunning summer trend and put your own spin on it. Fashion North would love to see you styling your culottes this summer, so don’t forget to tag us in all your outfit posts on our twitter @fashion_north.
