15 beauty tips and tricks

Makeup hacks

We’re forever trying to find new ways to do our make-up, tame unwanted hairs, speed up the getting-ready process and save money where possible. So after searching high and low for tips and tricks we’ve compiled a list of our favourite and most reliable to help all you make-up lovers and money savers:

1) Place a spare card (business cards work well) around by your eye to use as a guide to create the perfect winged eyeliner.

2) Use white or light eyeliner along your water line to make your eyes pop (and cover up the fact you’re tired!)

3) If you’ve bought your foundation that shade too dark, mix it with a moisturiser to lighten it up. This also doubles as a tinted moisturiser.

4) Want your perfume to last all day? Rub a bit of vaseline where you put your perfume before spritzing it on.

5) Got thin lips? Use a skin coloured lipliner to overline your lips to give them that bit more oomph…be careful not to go overboard though.

6) If you want to make your favourite mascara last that bit longer, mix in a little bit of contact solution.

7) Sick of your lipstick not lasting all day? Hold a tissue over your lips and dust them with translucent powder to keep your lippy in place all day.

8) Hair too soft to style? Spray in a bit of dry shampoo to take away some of the softness and make it easier to style.

9) Got thin hair? Brush in a little eyeshadow (the same colour as your hair) on your parting to give the illusion of thicker hair.

10) Tame flyaway hairs with a little bit of hairspray on a toothbrush (not one you’re current using!)

11) For a better hold, spray your bobby pins with dry shampoo or hairspray before using them.

12) Keep your old mascara brushes, clean them and use them as eyebrow brushes.

13) Fake tan gone streaky? Correct it with normal moisturiser to blend the two colours and get rid of those streaks.

14) Ran out of shaving foam? Use conditioner, it works just as well as shaving foam and leaves your legs nice and soft.

15) No nail polish remover left? Apply a clear top coat to the nail and remove quickly with a cotton wool pad.
