Sunderland based eco fashion business, Joined In Life, offers trendy t-shirts that are good to the environment and are helping solve world hunger with each sale.
The fashion company’s charity partner, Mary’s Meals, have created a global movement by bringing a fresh nutritious daily meal to children around the world.
With every t-shirt sold, the company donates 10% of the value to the charity. This translates to fresh daily meals for a child for over one month.
The business was the brain child of Sunderland graduate Jane Wimpenny: “When I was a student I was looking for eco friendly fashion options and there wasn’t much to choose from and the idea grew from there.
“I started thinking can we do more, I wanted to create a business that was green and gave back to the community. I knew about Mary’s Meals and it was a perfect fit.”
The charity have set up school feeding programmes in some of the world’s poorest communities, where poverty and hunger prevent children from gaining an education.
Today, the charity is reaching more than 1,035,000 children in 12 developing countries.
The t-shirts are printed onto premium quality recycled t-shirts made with cuttings from organic cotton textile production and fibres from recycled plastic bottles to create the fabric.
The t-shirts are on sale now via the website www.joinedinlife.co.uk available in a variety of colours and designs.
Jane explains: “We want to build awareness for the environment and the communities around us. By opting for a Joined In Life t-shirt you can look good but also do so much good. We can all really make a difference to the world through simple everyday choices.”
