Orders have been flooding in for two Sunderland occasionwear boutiques as they introduce new prom trends for the upcoming year.
The One Boutique based in Whitburn opened in 2016. Owner, Verity Wake, 38, said: “I opened the shop because of my own struggle to find a wedding dress.
“There are huge trade shows that we go and visit to choose dresses for the following season. The fishtail with the floaty style at the bottom is really popular.”

The One Boutique stocks a range of styles that are exclusive to the store for a 10-15 mile radius.
Encore Evenings and Bridal is located in Sunderland City Centre and offers hand-made gowns. Owner Tracey Waters, 46, is skilled in alterations and able to create dresses from scratch. She said:“I have a photographic memory, you can just show me a picture of the dress you want and I can make it.”
