HITS AND MISSES- 2020 Christmas makeup launches

Christmas new releases are here, yet the Facebook countdown says there are 88 days left? Well, it’s never too early for the holiday season in the beauty industry, and that’s why we’ve made up a list with the HITS and MISSES of some of the 2020 Christmas makeup launches.

HIT! – Charlotte Tilbury Bejewelled Eyes To Hypnotise Limited Edition £60

Following the success of previous sell-out palettes, make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury “surprises us all” with a brand-new launch. According to the website, the Bejewelled Eyes To Hypnotise palette has 12 hypnotic shades inspired by the world’s most brilliant gems. The palette has mostly shimmery shadows, only three mattes and comes in a beautiful, sparkling packaging. When you first look at it you can definitely tell that it has got a more neutral, brown and rusty range comparing to her signature palettes in sweet, pinky shades. Probably one of the greatest things about it is that the colours are arranged in trios, resembling looks you can easily put together, with the same creamy, rich formula and shadows that blend like a dream. Make-up artist, Wayne Goss, has tried it himself and said that “it does offer a really good amount of possibilities and for those of you who’re looking for shadows that are quite reflective and pigmented, then this is the palette for you.” Available now on charlottetilbury.com

MISS! – Pat McGrath Celestial Divinity Palette £60

This is probably one of the most highly-anticipated launches and has already created a lot of controversy in the beauty world. If there’s one thing that everybody knows about PatMcGrath eye palettes is that you could probably get two full bags of drugstore makeup for the same price. They’re that expensive. Comparing to the 10-eyeshadow palettes, sold for £120, the one for the coming-up season is half-price and has got 18 shades. That’s why it really raises a lot of questions in terms of quality and also the size of the pans. The new Celestial Divinity palette celebrates artistry, with an alluring array of glitter, shimmer, matte and iridescent shadows. If all the Pat McGrath products scream luxury and opulence, I don’t think it’s the case for this palette though, especially because of its cardboard packaging. Although I love the purples, greens and metallics, I would be more likely to invest in a standard palette rather than in a cheaper version which may (or may not) have the same quality. The whole Celestial Divinity Collection from Pat McGrath will be available in October in Selfridges.

HIT! – Fenty Beauty Posse Holo’Daze Mini Gloss Bomb Collection £30

No introduction needed for the Fenty Beauty lip glosses.  The Gloss Bomb is already a holy grail on social media, and this year’s bundle has three brand-new, delicious shades of raspberry, baby pink and a caramel brown colours, keeping the well-known, comfortable formula which genuinely feels like lip therapy. What I love about this set is that instead of including their best-selling shades like most brands do, they released some new ones that are all you need for plump, juicy lips this winter. So if you love the Fenty lip glosses, or you’ve been wanting to try them, this is your chance. And hurry up because these sell fast! Available now in Boots and online.

MISS! – Too Faced Better Not Pout, But If You Do Keep It Glossy Set

Too Faced is probably the first brand that comes to my mind when I think about festive, adorable, christmasy collections, and this set is no exception. However, the lip glosses themselves remind me of nothing but the glitter glue tubes that I used to have as a kid. It’s 2020, Too Faced! Nobody (over 15) is going to wear a shimmery, red lip gloss with a tone of glitter this winter. In fact, the whole range of shades do not seem appealing at all. Imagine how beautiful that copper shade would have looked on the lips without that much glitter. I am a huge lip gloss fan but this is definitely a no no for me. The set is available here.
