As it gets closer to Christmas it’s starting to become bitterly cold and the winter weather always poses a problem for girls. However, it’s not all doom and gloom as this means it’s time for the beauty products to step it up a notch.

We all have our trusty ‘hero’ item that we depend on each winter. My winter hero product is my Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub (£5.25) also available in Bubblegum, Mint Julips and Santa’s Lip Scrub flavours. It is my go-to product for chapped lips, and it’s tasty too!

This week I quizzed the sub-editors at Fashion North to find out what their winter hero items are:

Victoria Higham – Editor:

“I definitely can’t live without my headband hats in winter! Not practical at all because apparently you lose most heat from the top of your head but I am NOT a fan of hat hair! I have so many in a rainbow of colours, some with pom poms attached, some with sequins on! They are just so cosy in winter and can hide a multitude of hair sins!

I’m lusting over this one at the minute, I love the plait detail!”

Melody Small – Hair and Beauty Editor:

“Mine’s the Lush Oatifix Fresh Face Mask (£5.95). I chose this as it is made of all natural ingredients and smells like maple syrup but it leaves the skin super moisturised and nourished even when this cool weather has tried to dry it out!”

Niamh Stewart – News Editor:

“Mine is definitely L’Occitane Shea Butter Subtle Violet Hand Cream! (£8.00) L’Occitane Hand Cream is my winter essential because the dry, cold weather makes my hands incredibly dry, and this hand cream is really nourishing. It also comes in a range of gorgeous scents (my current fave is rose) and the packaging is super cute too.”

Nicolle Whitaker – News Editor:

“Without doubt, the item I depend upon during the winter months is an oversized wooly scarf. I LOVE them and I am nearly always wearing one! I love how they can completely transform your outfit as well as keeping you warm.”

Amy Ingram – Commissioning Editor:

“No matter what the wind does to my ridiculous hair, it can always be tamed by a hairbrush. When its wet and windy outside, product can be a nightmare and I often end up with hairspray dripping all down my forehead when it’s absolutely miserable outside. Best thing for it, is a trusty hairbrush for a product-free fix it job.”

Stephanie Currie – Features Editor:

“I couldn’t survive without Moroccanoil. My hair is so curly and frizzy and it calms it right down and makes it so much smoother and easier to style!”

Nancy Campopiano – Agony Aunt:

Nivea In Shower Body Moisturiser (£3.65), you can moisturise when warm in the shower and you don’t have to get out when it’s cold.”

Kelly Beal – Shopping Editor:

“It would probably be Mac Rebel lipstick! (£15.00) I just love the colour and it can brighten up your whole look.”

Victoria Bainbridge – Social Media Editor:

“Mine would be Aveeno Skin Relief as it helps dry skin so quickly! And isn’t heavily perfumed so it’s good for people with eczema like me.”
