A very Happy Birthday to Kate Moss, who is 40 today.

Here at Fashion North, we had to pause for a moment to remind ourselves – she is FORTY?!

More of an obsession than a supermodel, there is really no one who can rock it like Mossy. We thought it would be rude not to celebrate her milestone birthday with her as we look back over her amazing career and style.

Kate Moss was first discovered in the early 1990s at the age of 14 by the founder of Storm Model Management, Sarah Doukas at JFK Airport in New York. She made her cover shoot debut a year after she was discovered for British magazine The Face.

At 18, she became the face of Calvin Klein and posed with Mark Wahlberg. This was when her career took off.

She has since starred in advertising campaigns for a number of fashion houses including Chanel and Burberry. Kate is not only known for her impressive CV in the fashion industry, but for her private life too.

In 1994 Kate began a relationship with actor, Johnny Depp, and they were engaged for a number of months until they split in 1998.

Kate’s daughter, Lila Grace Moss Hack, was born in 2002. Her father is Dazed & Confused editor, Jefferson Hack.

Kate has also been romantically involved with Pete Doherty after the pair met at her 31st birthday in 2005. Pete announced that the pair had got engaged during at a concert that Kate was also performing at in April 2007. The pair split the following after a turbulent relationship.

In September 2005, the Daily Mirror published photographs of Kate that seemed to show her snorting lines of a white powder. It was following this that H&M announced that they were dropping her from a campaign for their autumn clothes range. Chanel also announced that they wouldn’t be renewing their contract with the supermodel, although they said it had nothing to do with the drug scandal. Burberry decided to drop Kate’s campaign with them too.

Although, Sarah Doukas said that the drug scandal had helped to increase Kate’s annual profits from £2million to £4million.

In 2007, Kate launched her first collection with Topshop. After four years and 14 collaborations later their partnership came to an end. But now, three and a half years after her last collection, she is returning to the iconic High Street brand which will go on sale globally in April 2014.

Kate married her boyfriend of four years, The Kills guitarist Jamie Hince, in July 2011.

In May 2013, she was unveiled as the new face – and body – of St Tropez.

Kate Moss has been on the cover of more than 300 magazines. She posed nude on the front cover of Playboy magazine for their 60th-anniversary issue, which was out in December 2013. She has just been roped back in by make-up giants, Rimmel, to front their new ScandalEyes Rockin’ Curves Mascara product.

After spending more than half her life in the public eye, Kate is still in demand and we can’t see it stopping!
