Metrocentre And Eldon Square Embrace Street Style In New Campaign

Intu Metrocentre and Intu Eldon Square are launching a new campaign called “Style Hero” to search for the most stylish people in the North East.

Each week for three weeks, a photographer will present in both shopping centres and will be approaching anyone aged 18 and above who they think has unique, individual style to photograph them.

The shots will then be uploaded on to a special app which will be shared on both Intu websites, Facebook and Twitter.


Each week the public can vote for their favourite fashionista and the person with the most votes will be crowned the weekly winner.

The winners will win goodies and vouchers from centre retailers and will also have the opportunity to feature in fashion campaigns and work with stylists at events in the centre.

Marketing Director for Intu, Richard Bailey, said: “Intu Eldon Square and Intu Metrocentre are two of the UK’s most fashionable shopping destinations. We want to capture our customers’ authentic style in their natural environment and use these images to inspire other shoppers to try new things.”

Lyn Spencer, who is running Style Hero at Eldon Square, is very enthusiastic about the campaign and thinks it will be a success.

She said: “What is so great about this campaign is that we’re getting the public involved via social media, so that we can see what the people of the North East really think about style.”


The winners of the weekly competitions will then be entered into the national campaign, where they will be battling it out with winners from the 13 other Intu shopping centres across the country to find the UK’s ultimate style hero.

The winner who will be crowned the national style hero will win £1000 to spend on and will be the face of the street style hero campaign.

The campaign will run from March 29 to April 20 at the Metrocentre and at Eldon Square.
