Your Festival Survival Kit

2014 Coachella Music And Arts Festival - Weekend 2 - Atmosphere

We all love a good music festival in the UK. The partying, the camping, the banter and of course – the music.

But let’s cut to the chase – no festival is going to be the glamorous, the hippy chic fashion show we see on Instagram posts by countless celebrities who have just partied at Coachella is far from reality.

We aren’t Kate Moss and really need to rough these things out!

If you are festival virgin or an annual mud covered regular, you need to prepare for the worst and hope for the best when it comes to packing.

Fear not, these festival fashion essentials will help ready you for all:

1) Dry Shampoo

First things first – Dry Shampoo. We can’t all take a trip to the nearest overpriced beauty camper van like our favourite A-listers so that means not washing your hair for five days. You really do NEED this product!

Find this Batiste Pixie Lott Dry Shampoo at Superdrug for £2.99.

2) Wellies

No matter what the weather, one must is a pair of wellingtons for a festival.

One time it was so muddy that the bottom of my wellies came off in the mud and I had to hobble back to camp with the top of a welly wrapped around my ankle and my socks sinking in the mud.

By all means take vibrant wellies but be prepared to maybe buy a second pair. Find the coral and black owl print wellies above at New Look for £19.99.

3) Rain Coat

3/4 festivals that I’ve been to it’s rained. And I’m talking tents sinking in the mud, sleeping bags getting soaked through – the works. Prepare for the wet weather and take a good rain coat.

We’ve found a great metallic one from The Ragged Priest for £60.

4) On-trend summer clothes (just in case)

On a brighter note, when the sun shines at a festival it’s the happiest feeling ever.

Floral numbers and bright colours never fail to make the atmosphere of a festival burst even more. Here are a selection of our favourites from the Topshop floral trend section.

(Left: Midi skirt, £36. Centre: Gardland, £16. Right: Shorts, £35)

5) Onesie

Trust me on this guys – even if the day time is hot hot hot, the nights are freezing!

When you come back to your camp after the headlining act and you snuggle up with a few cans in your onesie, you will all thank me.

(Besides it’s a festival – you could even wear a bright orange tiger onesie through the day and no one would look twice.)

This ASOS Pony Onesie with Rainbow Mane, £22.50, is a perfect choice.

6) Hat

It should be illegal to attend a festival without a wacky or quirky festival hat. Enough said. Look cool but bang on trend with this straw hat from H&M, £7.99.

7) Hoodie

Once again, think of the cold guys! Stay wrapped up on a night in this practical hooded jacket from H&M, £29.99.
