Everyone likes to have perfectly polished fingertips, but keeping up with gel manicures can be time-consuming, expensive and not great for your nails.
Here is a guide to a few drugstore products that will give you easy to achieve gel-like nails at a fraction of the price.
The key to a long-lasting, shiny manicure is a good topcoat. This topcoat, from Seche Vite, is a blogger and beauty guru favourite – and for good reason!
At £9.00 it can seem a little expensive but it really does create super shiny nails for that gel manicure look and makes your nail varnish last longer.
This is Barry M’s offering to the DIY gel manicure. These cheap and cheerful nail polishes come in around 20 shades.
One of their new spring shades, Sugar Apple, is even a dupe for cult favourite Essie Mint Candy Apple. With such a low price tag you can pick up almost 10 of these for the price of one salon manicure!
A recent launch from Models Own, a brand known for their reasonably priced high quality nail polishes, is the Hyper Gel range. They have a nice, thick formula which is super easy to apply and they have great staying power.
With a wide range of shades, including some designed by Kate Moss, these Rimmel polishes are definitely something to try.
They promise 10 days of shine and chip resistance, which may be slightly optimistic, but they do last at least a week and keep their shiny finish.
This product comes in at the higher price end for the at home gel polishes, but is definitely worth the investment!
Available in a range of colourful and on trend shades, my favourites are Soho Place and Downtown, these polishes look amazing and last (with the help of new plasticiser technology, meaning the polish bends with your nails to avoid chips and peeling).
