Primark AW14 – Winter Fashion, But Not As We Know It

For the up and coming season Primark has generated a collection that draws on a variety of inspirations. It’s a collection where the feminine meets the masculine; the fit and flare of past seasons has been traded in for a softer relaxed cocoon shape, and knitwear is making its presence known to all in a variety of guises.

Those chunky sole and heeled boots with the cut outs you bought over the summer are still in, and are available in metallic, brogue and a chunky Chelsea boot style. The collection is a clothing consortium of textures of faux fur jackets, quilted backpacks and patent mini skirts.

The faux fur trend is a recurring theme through the fall foray. As shearling coats, gilets and trimmed jacket demand your gaze. A cropped striped ‘shaggy’ coat in damson, white and dark pink is a particular standout piece.

Woollen cocoon Crombie coats are on offer in selection colours and prints of an enlarged check with flecks a dark rose, pastel pink and monochrome Dogtooth creating a tantalising trio.

For those brave enough to bare their legs this autumn/winter, dresses and skirts have not been forgotten. Pleated, skater and pencil skirts are loud and proud in daffodil yellow, snowy white and a dark grey Herringbone, which comes with a matching jumper.

The dresses created by Primark are ideal for the any party or function that may occur over the winter period. Coming in a variety of styles such as fit and flare, body con and tunic, so there is a dress to suit every taste. One major stand out dress is the ‘Slavo’ studded dress in a Baroque paisley print, resembling something out of an Alexander McQueen collection and at £17 it’s at a fraction of the cost.

This autumn winter Primark has your wardrobe covered in every department. From classic white shirts to neutral alpaca body con dresses, to jacquard metallic dresses to floral embroidered jumpers. This is winter fashion, just not as we know it.
