It’s 2025 who wears clothes as they are intended, now it’s time to experiment. Scarves are also being impacted by this movement. Everything can be customised and innovated in a different way especially in fashion. I specifically used thin material scarves that featured gorgeous patterns to create a beautiful final product.

The lovely Leyla a fellow fashion design student created the idea of making a scarf a top by connecting in a way using a bracelet to create the gorgeous bow like top. That can be worn in these sunny days as a light material but looking amazing. I would match this with some light linen white trousers to really highlight the top and match the summer vibes we are wanting this year. How she formed this lovely top was by wrapping the scarf material around the bracelet and leaving excess to create the structure seen. Secured with a knot in the back to ensure no slips. It looks super stylish and is so simple.

The next way to customise a scarf is by bring back the cowboy vibes especially after Coachella where the cowboy themed trend seemed rampant this year. It is super easy and a great way to add to that “ I feel like I’m missing something “ feeling. All you have to do fold the scarf in half and wrap around your neck, keep the excess to the front and tie with the ends on the back. Once it is tied you can adjust to your liking.

Another way to customise a scarf is personally one of my favourites, the half over skirt look. I really love how this looks paired with flares and brings that 60s quirkiness to an outfit that just adds another level to the outfit. With the popularity of skirts over jeans in latest trends this is just another level to innovating in this area. It’s super easy just like the rest of these techniques all you have to do is fold the scarf and tie around your waist leaving excess to create the half skirt. It looks super cute with the pattern and just works so well together.

The final way I customised a scarf was by creating a tube top that is ideal for summer. It can be worn with any long flowing skirt, I personally would pair with a white long crochet skirt and think it’s would really bring the holiday spirit we all need as summer comes. It’s a great way to add cover to a bikini on the beach as well as being light to ensure in the heat you’re still cool. Again all this requires is folding the scarf in half however allow one half to hang lower and tie at the back for a simple tube top look that would have costed £30 at any shop for a similar top with a £3 scarf.
I imagine everyone cannot wait for summer so rather than spending more money than just on a holiday to holiday clothes use what’s in your wardrobe and experiment with the same look if not better.
