How to Guide: Create a Festive Movie Night
On the countdown to Christmas, we can enjoy festive time-old traditions with friends and family, or perhaps create new traditions with new found hobbies and trends. We imagine the perfect Christmas evening to be made up of cosy pyjamas and a log-burning fire with a hot chocolate, tucked up into piles of blankets watching your favourite festive movie.

Fashion North sent out a suggestion box on Instagram @Fashion_North asking what your favourite festive movie is. We found that our reader’s top three Christmas films are Elf, The Holiday and Love Actually. Of course, we love a romance this time of year, bringing everyone together, whether it’s your first Christmas together as a couple, or your tenth.
Here is Fashion North’s guide on how to create the most memorable (if you don’t drink too many cocktails!) festive movie night:
Step One: Choosing the perfect film
If you’re like us, deciding on a film is the most difficult decision, what makes it so hard is the pressure of finding a film that everyone agrees on. Try spinning a wheel and having it pick a film at random, or writing the titles down on paper and the last title that is drawn is the film you will watch.
Step Two: Prepping festive sweet treats
Whether you’re buying pre-made treats or involving baking as part of the movie night activities, we have some recipes and guides to help you out. A classic gingerbread biscuit is a favourite treat and easy to bake. If you want to turn up the skill level, try mince pie cookies or some hot chocolate cupcakes. (We have included links to each recipe from Jane’s Patisserie – click the names to be directed to the website.)
Step Three: Matching your pyjamas to your festive beverage
If you’re in the mood unleashing your inner mixologist, try making an amaretto sour for a sour, yet sweet flavour with nutty undertones. It is easy to make and delicious, and you can top it with a cherry or orange slice for the perfect Insta worthy picture. Ingredients include amaretto liqueur, lemon juice and a simple syrup.

This light pink cherry pyjama set from Boux Avenue matches the amaretto sour when paired with the TK Maxx pink cocktail glass for the best presentation for the drink and a classy look for yourself.
To follow the maroon trend of mulled wine, this pyjama set from Tesco F&F, priced at £27.50, is the perfect combination of comfort and chic style.
People often ask, what actually is mulled wine? It’s basically just seasoned red wine, infused with cinnamon, cloves, anise and oranges, when simmered on a low heat it fills your home with the ultimate nostalgic Christmas scent. You can serve in mugs or in a glass pitcher to share amongst wine glasses.

With all the cold weather outside, come in and warm yourself up with a Bailey’s hot chocolate. In a saucepan, heat up milk, Baileys Irish Cream liqueur and cocoa powder – we recommend Galaxy hot chocolate powder for a creamier taste.
Just imagine the snug vibes with this brown leopard print pyjama set from New Look, costing £29.99, whilst holding your mug of baileys hot chocolate. You can pair it with Boohoo’s two pack of pink and white fluffy socks to give the impression of marshmallows on top of your hot chocolate.
