Two Red Valentine’s Day Looks You’ll Fall in Love With

Fashion North’s social media editor Isabel Vadillo shares how she’d style her Valentine’s Day with two looks for two occasions.

Valentine’s Day is all about celebrating love, whether that’s with your partner, your best friends, your family, or anyone who means the most to you. It’s the perfect excuse to get dressed up and make a bit of a moment out of it. From a romantic dinner to cocktails at a cosy bar, or even a cheeky night out if that’s more your thing, I’ve put together a romantic look to match whatever date you’ve got in the diary.

Look 1: A Red Twist to the Little Black Dress

For this shoot, I styled a black mini dress from H&M, fully leaning into the classic little black dress moment that every fashion girl swears by. This timeless piece works for pretty much any kind of Valentine’s plans. To give it that extra romantic twist, I added bright red tights peeking out between the hem of the dress and the black boots. A huge thank you to Katie for lending me the boots because they tied everything together so perfectly. The tights are from Amazon and are honestly such an easy way to elevate a simple outfit.

When it comes to accessories, more is more in my opinion. I have a slight obsession with jewellery and own more earrings, necklaces, bangles and rings than I’d ever like to admit. A lot of my style inspiration comes from my mam, which feels very fitting for a day all about love. The red hoop earrings I’m wearing are hers, and so is the black bag she used to take clubbing in the 90s. For the perfume shots, I’m also wearing Lancôme La Vie Est Belle, another little gem borrowed from her collection. It’s sweet, feminine and the perfect finishing touch for a romantic night out.

Look 2: Boyfriend’s Sweatshirt Chic in Red

For my second look, I wanted to embrace that chilled, cosy movie night vibe. Think Valentine’s spent inside, curled up on the sofa with your partner and a lineup of your favourite comfort films. Not every celebration has to mean heels and a dinner reservation.

Gingham has been everywhere in the past year, from Marks & Spencer to Urban Outfitters. My red gingham pyjama bottoms from Next are cute enough to feel put together, but still soft enough that you can actually relax for a full-on romance film binge. Juno is my ultimate favourite and will always make the watchlist. I paired the pyjamas with my boyfriend’s sweatshirt, which just so happens to be the perfect shade of red to match. He picked up this vintage Fila piece from Vinted, and naturally I’ve claimed it as my own. There’s just something about an oversized sweatshirt that makes a cosy night even better.

And of course, no movie night is complete without a hot water bottle. As students in freezing accommodation, it’s basically a survival essential. I genuinely live with mine attached to me, and the fact it has a little ‘LOVE’ motif makes it feel extra fitting for Valentine’s Day.
