Noughties fashion nostalgia

2000s trends from then now!

bringing back the slick and stylish fits in this editorial piece focusing on 2000s nostalgia, pop culture inspiration and trends

The noughties was crazy a time of no rules and chaos , before we had regulations in media and scandals in fashion ran the world. The 2000s created trends good and bad like the low rise jeans worn by style icons such as Brittney Spears are always going to be key staples in wardrobes. In the UK the noughties was an explosion of self expression, influenced by music pop- culture and sub genres were formed. Styling my models I considered pieces which heavily had nostalgic appeal key items such as jewellery pieces the silver clock ring worn in look1 and look6 this was a trending piece which was featured in music videos and dates by centuries ago. Pendant necklaces stood out mostly on their own but I loved the over maximalism of the 2000s when considering these looks I decided to have intent in all my decisions down to the camera in the pocket in photo 2 not only to emphasise the time but also as an accessory to create character in this shoot.

For my female model I was heavily influenced by style icons Hilary Duff and Disney Channel character Hannah Montana as in the 2000s these two influential figures of fashion paved way for women’s clothing to be ultra feminised For my male models, I was heavily inspired by bands such as the band “ Take that” and the rap artist “Eminem” style icons which created a difference within men’s fashion elevating it to be taken more serious.
