Five-Pound Clothing Sale to be Hosted by Smart Works This October

The women’s charity Smart Works have planned an autumn clothing sale at Northumbria University next week, where everything is expected to be five pounds or less.

On Thursday 8th October and Friday 9th October, the sale will take place in the Great Hall area of the Sutherland Building in Newcastle city centre.

This event has free admission from 11am until 7pm on Thursday and 11am until 3pm on Friday, but early bird access from 10am is available to purchase for £5 from the link here.

“It’s a great way to refresh your autumn wardrobe affordably while shopping sustainably, giving donated clothing a second life,” Communications and Engagement Coordinator, Taylor Joynt, suggested.

Furthermore, she explained: “All proceeds will support Smart Works North East’s mission of helping local, unemployed women access the clothing and coaching they need to get back into work. So it’s truly a guilt-free shopping experience with real impact.”

Over recent years, the local charity have managed to help 68% of their clients secure employment after visiting for interview coaching and dressing appointments.

Smart Works North East have been fundraising through numerous community events including clothing sales as well as expert-led events such as ‘In Conversation with Sara Davies’ (from Dragon’s Den) in September and ‘An Evening with Jo Leversuch’ (Sam Fender’s make-up artist) in July.
