Roker’s latest hospitality hotspot

Hitting the milestone of 10,000 customers within its first month of opening, Roker’s brand new bar/restaurant ‘These Things Happen’ is fast becoming one of Sunderland’s hottest hospitality spots.

Situated in the former Harbour View Motors site, the fashionable bar/restaurant has been a huge success among the people of Sunderland since its opening on September 19, and as a thank you they hosted a free gig on October 27.

The un-ticketed gig was a big hit with customers according to manager Tammy, who said; “The atmosphere was really good, all of the customers we had were really lovely.” The live music was courtesy of Acoustic Odds, a Merseyside duo who are also friends of the owner, Walter Veti.

After seeing the success of the live music event, the restaurant hopes to continue to be able to host live music every Thursday as well as a Wednesday Quiz night.

The restaurant has also recently opened an upstairs function room which is filling up “thick and fast” with baby showers and Christmas parties according to Tammy.

‘These Things Happen’ is one of the first of a sequence of new venue openings across the coast, which Sunderland City Council hopes can “improve the economic vibrancy of the area.”
