Green Heart Collective on Tackling Textile Waste

Every year, across the world, we produce around 92 million tonnes of textile waste. This is set to increase to 134 million tonnes by 2030, if people don’t start taking action.

The overproduction and overconsumption of clothes are two major factors that contribute to the amount of textile waste. Research has shown that the number of clothes that have already been produced will last for generations.

Some studies have found that 80% of Black Friday purchases are discarded after minimal use, contributing the mountains of textile landfill that are sent to other countries like Ghana and Chile.

Green Heart Collective are set on tackling textile waste by promoting less consumption and keeping what we already have in circulation.
