If there was ever a designer to stick to what they know best and still cause a storm in the fashion world, it’s Simone Rocha. Her young brand hasn’t changed a bit for autumn winter 2015 from previous collections, but don’t let that fool you.
Since her career beginnings at London Fashion Week, Rocha has created evocative collections, darkly poetic and never short of a melancholic nature. For autumn winter this year, Rocha has given us her usual array of gothic silhouettes and prints on a dark, dismal but ultimately enchanting palette.
Demure looking models introduced the show in padded black velvet dresses and skirt suits. The clothes were reminiscent of a darker period in time, yet met with modernity when paired with thick grey ankle socks, bare legs and heeled dolly shoes.
The pieces continued to mix and match with a black baroque cape to a muddy brown tapestry inspired midi dress with frumpy ruffles. Lace then spiced up, what firstly seemed to be a rather tame collection for Rocha, models donned sheer lace met ruffled knee-length dresses which were complimented with tight sleeves and Peter Pan collars.
A hint of light colouring swept into the collection with traditional floral print on swinging skirts mixed with white collared shirts with sheer sleeves. As if the flowers had awoken a lease of life, the clothes became carefree. The atmosphere became ever more ethereal with dusty pinks and cream tones on organza dresses with cut-out panelling.
Models dressed in poppy reds and creams teamed with houndstooth prints made for a beautiful finale. Rich red tapestry prints on an oversized cape teamed with two thick choker necklaces in what looked to be dainty cream flowers was a stand-out piece from the designer.
According to Simone Rocha, autumn winter is a lot like spring summer 2015, but whatever the weather, nobody would ever fall short of making heads turn in such elaborate designs anyway.
