Peter Pilotto are the duo renowned for their take on bold prints and structured silhouettes, so for autumn winter 2015, you can pretty much guess what’s in store.
The designers upped the revival of the 1970s with their winning combination of khaki greens, browns and, of course, symmetrical vibrant prints on belted coats with wide collars and the thickest of roll neck jumpers paired with flared knee-length skirts.
A particular stand-out piece came in the form of a white leather jacket, belted at the waist, with gold panelling on the sleeves so sickly sweet it made us want more of the 70s vibe. The leather jacket was teamed with white trousers that flared slightly at the feet, covered in the smallest of dark blue and green dots, and finished with a straight lime green line down the trouser legs. Clash sports luxe and the 70s era together and you get this exciting Peter Pilotto mash-up.
If that slightly puts you off, don’t be. The silhouettes became more structured and the prints became slightly more tame. Popping abstract colours and patterns seemed eccentric, but against classically simple black jumpsuits, skirts and jumpers they couldn’t be faulted.
But the finale was every bit of what the designers are known for. It was like the designers had tamed the idea of the artistic movement of Fauvism by pairing the daring array of colours with muted cream and dark tones to create a tribal affair. Three sleeveless midi dresses, one with a daring plunging neckline for added sexuality, were the ovation to a powerful collection.
There was nothing new by the designers, no, but they did create something that, we think, you’ll all want a piece of come autumn winter 2015.
