taking place in Exhibition and Town Square within the centre, there was everything from trend-led runway moments to beauty demonstrations and styling sessions with some of the biggest names in the industry. The events were hosted by renowned Model, Radio, TV Presenter and Author Lisa Snowdon who brought her vibrant energy and years of expertise in fashion to the main stage. Lisa fronted the catwalk shows as well as leading her exclusive Find Your Fabulous Style Sessions, where she shared confidence-boosting tips, seasonal must-haves and advice on how to feel your best in what you wear.

Lisa Snowdon’s ‘Find Your Fabulous Style’ presentation was a highlight among the weekends offerings, which included catwalk shows that offered a true celebration of summer style, including more glamorous race day looks to outfits perfect for a beach day. Lisa talked the crowd through how to style key summer trends like free-spirited boho looks with tassels and frills and soft pastel tailoring perfect for summer occasions, as well as bold florals ideal for the sunny weather. The looks featured standout pieces from many of the Metrocentre’s own fashion offerings, brands like Mango, River Island, Next, Apricot, and Accessorize among more to give visitors plenty of inspiration for holidays, weddings, weekend getaways and sunny days at home.

Lisa Snowdon, commented on the weekend’s style masterclass and the weekend as a whole, she said: “Sharing my Find Your Fabulous style masterclass at Metrocentre’s Fashion & Beauty Weekend was such a fantastic experience. The centre is packed with so many brilliant brands and incredible retailers. I hope everyone left feeling inspired, confident and ready to find their fabulous.”

Visitors were also able to see the return of Newcastle College’s ‘The Future of Fashion’ show, which is a student-led showcase that celebrates creativity, craft and collaboration. All of the fashion, makeup, modelling, photography and hair that was on display was done by students across the College’s creative and performance courses. The looks had been developed over the academic year and there was a great deal of talent and originality on display that was praised by the crowd.

Phoebe Butler, a student from Newcastle College who showcased her work on Saturday, shared her experience about what it means to be a part of Metrocentre’s Fashion & Beauty Weekend saying, “Seeing my outfits come to life and be modelled down the runway gave me a new perspective of my capabilities of bringing my ideas to life and presenting them to an audience with confidence. My inspiration for one outfit pulled from the brief “transition” revolves around the process sea glass partakes in, shown through my plastic sculpted bodice, sand corset and flowing trail inspired by the ocean. This show has given me the confidence to move  forward, going to university in London and to take every opportunity, as the Metrocentre has given me through this runway showcasing my designs.”

As for the beauty part of the weekend, there was exciting pop-ups and giveaways from some of the leading beauty brands in Metrocentre, including Sephora, H Beauty and Kiko Milano. Guests were provided with everything from skincare tips to fragrance testing and even personalised makeup consultations.

Helen Atkinson, Marketing Manager at Metrocentre, commented on the success of the event, saying: “We were delighted with the success of this year’s Fashion & Beauty Weekend. The atmosphere was buzzing, and it was brilliant to see people of all ages enjoying the fashion shows, getting involved in masterclasses, and discovering new trends and treatments. Supporting local talent is really important to us, and the Newcastle College takeover was one of the highlights – they brought so much passion and creativity to the event.”

Visitors over the weekend were given the opportunity to donate their preloved clothing items to the local charity mega-store, Daisy Chain, so they could celebrate style while supporting a great cause. Metrocentre even has a clothing collection point that can be found in Exhibition Square, where it will remain until the end of May.

The event over the weekend had something for every style lover, beauty enthusiast and trend-seeker. As it became Metrocentre’s most successful Fashion & Beauty event yet, it’s clear to see why it remains a must-visit event in the North East’s social calendar. We can’t wait to see any future Fashion & Beauty events the Metrocentre plans to host and how they’re going to top this one!
