New York Fashion Week: Oscar De La Renta SS16

Oscar De La Renta has retained his reign as the master of evening wear after his SS16 collection. The femininity and poise  within his garments  in his latest collection showed why he is an award winning designer. The elegance and grace his dresses carry makes the Oscar girl one to envy.

With influence from Spain, De La Ranta’s SS16 collection saw sangria red splashed over the dresses entwined with black lace. Flamenco frills and Spanish silhouettes were a recurring theme with a-symmetric skirts layered in ruffles and matador style jackets strongly perspiring the Spanish culture.

Lace was very much the staple fabric used throughout his collection, as a subtle underskirt as well as a striking high-collar neckline, giving the dresses an edgy look. Some dresses were covered head to toe in lace giving off a racy yet sophisticated look desired by most women.

The model’s makeup look was simple yet strong with hair scraped back into low ponytails and tied loosely with a black bow. A statement lip was also sported reflecting the strong style of the garments they were displaying.

The finale saw long, full dresses flowing down the catwalk with some embellished with delicate flowers, many layered with lace and the odd one dotted with bows. The bouquet of dresses truly signifies the Oscar glamour he is famously known for.
