Chocker necklaces, scrunchies and flannel shirts, all pure 90s nostalgia which transports you straight back to your childhood. Well it’s time to relive the best decade all over again!
If you cast your minds back to the SS14 shows, designers such as Rag & Bone, DKNY, Alexander Wang, Y-3 and Victoria Beckham showed strong 90s influence within their collections. It’s no secret the 90s is back in high street stores yet agin, but after a trip to Topshop in The Bridges, Sunderland I was met with all things 90s.
Topshop is always on trend, at times the prices are questionable but this season they seem to have the 90s covered – here are four of my favourite items from their Sunderland store (and the links to the website incase you don’t have time to get down to the store).
Women’s bomber jacket £38. Wear this with skinny jeans, and some ankle boots practical for autumn and in keeping with the 90s trend.
Denim dress £38. Maybe a slightly summery choice for autumn but dress it with some tights and oversized knitted cardigan for comfort (and warmth). The dress is very Saved by the Bell and a personal favourite.
Denim jacket £58. Topshop brought out a similar denim jacket in winter last year, this year though they’ve lightened the denim and maybe it every so 90s. Team this with jeans, a band T-shirt, ankle boots and a trusty chocker for that 90s look.
Ripped jeans £45. Not your usual 90s attire but team this with double denim or a baggy T-shirt and some Dr.Martens, an effortless look perfect for the 90s.
If none of these tickle your pickle, then The Bridges also has H&M, Debenhams and select. H&M offer and amazing statement coat section, mainly long line and bold colours – you’ll be able to be 90s, 80s and even some 60s inspired coats in there. For your day-to-day T-shirts and scrunchies try Select, their prices are practically unbeatable and their ranges are ever change and oh so desirable. Whatever 90s look you’re after you’ll be able to find it in The Bridges, or why not stop by one of Sunderland’s vintage stores such as Port Independent.
