Flappers are back.
The 1920s style was seen on the catwalks at Shiatzy Chen’s SS25 show in Paris with a model sashaying down the catwalk in a champagne-coloured flapper-inspired dress featuring a textured fabric and intricate details clearly inspired by 1920s fashion.
The knee-length frock featured lightweight fabrics, representing the jazz age, where women wore dresses that were more fluid and had a shorter hemline to allow room to dance.
It’s decorated with woollen tassels, sequins, and embroidery, mimicking the feathers, and beading that were so popular in the Twenties. The low cut, straight silhouette and the dropped waistline also represents the style back then. This was the period when the nipped-in waist, and the corset, was ditched to allow more movement in the fabric.
These glamorous and delicate designs are back in trend now as seen in high street stores, such as Asos.com
Many celebrities have also been seen wearing this style including Taylor Swift who wore flapper-inspired frocks during her recent Eras tour.
