3 Ways to Style a Classic Black and White Polka Dot Scarf
Are you looking for fun ways to style scarves to add that little bit of extra detail? Keep reading to find out how a Fashion North reporter styled her black and white polka dot scarf to add a pop of colour to her black outfit.
Look 1:
The first way I styled my scarf was by putting it through the belt loop in my jeans. You could do this with any silky scarf, long or short, and it would add that bit of detail if your jeans are plain and you don’t feel like wearing a belt.

You could also tie it in different ways if you wanted to. I chose to tie it through one loop but if you had a longer scarf, you could put it through two loops or all the way around for a belt look. You could also tie it in a bow.

Look 2:
For my second look I styled my scarf on my bag. I put it through the loop connected to the handle and didn’t tie it so that it hung down nicely. I think this makes a plain bag look fun. I have a scarf on my most used bag every day!

You could also wrap the scarf all the way around the handle or you could tie it properly or make it into a bow.

For my third look, I wanted to make my scarf into a bandana. This is something I do when I’m on holiday to protect my scalp from the sun, it makes me feel more stylish than wearing a cap.

How to style this look:
- Find a square, silky scarf
- Fold the scarf once so that it’s a triangle
- Pull two bits of your hair forward
- Tie your hair back into a highish ponytail
- Put the scarf on your head so that the middle of the triangle is on your forehead, and the tip is at the back of your head
- Pull the other two corners back and under your ponytail and tie them together
- Take your hair down and adjust as needed
