Glow-Up for 2026: Five Beauty Tips to Have in Your Daily Routine

Starting a new year is the perfect time for perfecting beauty routines and glowing-up. January and February feels slow, and they last for eternity, so they are the best months to develop a healthy life-style and find some good skincare rituals.

In my teen years, skincare was an unknown territory. I would wake up, put Nivea Soft on, then layer tones of makeup on my face. Then at the end of day, I would use make-up wipes to take my makeup off then go to sleep. I do not recommend this now.

As I have gotten older, I have taken an interest and pleasure in looking after myself, I have dedicated many hours looking at new products and new techniques to find the ultimate beauty secrets. Here are five that I would recommend to start doing in 2026:

1. Double Cleansing

Did you know that not all cleansers remove make-up residue and SPF?

I only recently discovered that to achieve a deep and thorough cleanse for your face, you need to be double cleansing. One wash does not get all the grime off your face that accumulates during the day. If you do only wash your face once, this may be why you’re still seeing clogged pores and acne!

As a make-up girly, I have fallen victim to clogged pores and acne. However, I decided 2026 was going to be the year I sorted out my skincare routine. After many hours of watching beauty influencers and researching different cleansers, I found that you should be using an oil-based cleanser to remove make-up and sebum, then a water/foam-based cleanser to remove sweat and dirt.

I have recently tried this technique. Before I started, my skin was really rough and my pores were very enlarged. After buying the Naturium Cleansing Balm and pairing it with my CeraVe Blemish Control Foam Wash, my skin has got 10x better. In all honestly, I am still seeing spots and minor breakouts but I do suffer from hormonal acne.

2. Silk Everything!

This is a trend from 2025 that we definitely need to take into 2026!

Firstly, silk pillowcases are a must to achieve healthy hair. If you wake up with frizzy hair, it could be a result of your pillowcases. The silk material creates less friction with your hair unlike cotton, helping your hair maintain moisture and reducing breakage. Silk pillowcases are also said to be good for your skin, reducing moisture loss in your skin, which means your night-time face products actually stay on your face!

Pillowcases are not the only swap you should make, there is also silk scrunchies to reduce hair breakage and also I use a silk heatless-curler, so my curls do not go frizzy.

3. Body Care

Personally, body care is like a hobby to me; my nightly shower rituals have become an absolute must. Finding new ways and products to better my skin has become an obsession to me.

Girl to girl, here are some of my tips and tricks:

  • Using a Dove Cream Bar for washing then a fragranced body wash for nice smelling skin
  • Exfoliating the body 1-2 times a week, I recommend the dove body scrubs or the Tree-hut scrubs
  • Exfoliate before shaving, for a cleaner shave
  • Moisturising your whole body after a shower, then going in with a body oil to lock in the moisture. The Aveeno Skin Relief Body Oil is a good option because the consistency is not thick, so it doesn’t feel uncomfortable going to sleep in

4. Korean Skincare

Korean skincare has taken over the beauty industry, brands such as: Medicube, Beauty of Joseon, Anua and Biodance, have broken the internet with their viral products. But why are they so popular?

The Korean skincare industry is 10 steps ahead, perfecting the glass-skin look.

I have only used some K-beauty products, due to the expense, but you can instantly notice change. For example, the Biodance collagen face mask leaves your skin with a glowing and radiant glaze, if left on long enough.

I think Korean skincare is the future and a perfect step further for glowing up in 2026.

As of recently, I have noticed a great influence from K-beauty brands to brands such as L’Oreal, who have brought out a new ‘Glass-Skin’ range.

5. ‘You are what you eat and drink’

Sometimes it can be the simplest habits that can stop you from blooming to your full potential. After researching, it turns out that a bad diet is a major factor impacting skin, hair and mood. Perhaps our mothers were right when telling us to eat our vegetables…

Here are some healthy habits I’ve added to my routine:

  • As a girl who suffers from bloating, I’ve switched to wholegrain pasta and brown bread. These are also known as ‘good carbs’ due to the higher fibre quantity which improves digestive health (However, there are many causes leading to bloating and it’s hard to figure out so this may not always be the main cause).
  • Before bed, I drink a green tea. I started doing this after hearing that Victoria Beckham did it. After researching, I found out that green tea helps break down fat, and I find it helps with waking up less bloated
  • Lemon water, not only is it refreshing but it is a good substitute for fizzy pop
  • Of course, fruit and vegetables need a mention, a vital must have in your die
