Best Dresser Worthy Fragrance Bottles of 2015

‘It’s 2015 – it’s acceptable’ is the answer that has guided us through the last 11 months. So as 2015 is nearing to an end, I’ve rounded up the 5 strangest but acceptable perfume bottles of the year.

The year of acceptance saw the crying of laughter emoji voted as the word of the year by Oxford Dictionaries, the opening of an alcoholic sweet shop (strictly for adults), play areas with slides and ball pits transformed into nightclubs, and even spray on nail varnish that dries instantly. What a year to be alive, but it gets better.

Classic, timeless and traditional are familiar words in the fashion world, but unless it’s Couture, Ready-to-Wear is a changed game. Thanks to designers such as Jeremy Scott for Moschino and his fun and ostentatious creations such as the iconic bear and Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel and his unforgettable airline show and light-up sandals, it seems a pattern is emerging, that the less traditional and more outrageous the better and this doesn’t just relevant for the latest fashions and displays.

Why spritz with the ‘classic, timeless and traditional’ Jean Paul Gaultier Classique, that’s so 1993!  The iconic corset bottle shape of the classic Jean Paul Gaultier was essentially the most innovative designs of its time as far as perfume bottles went. Another of its later innovative designs was a golden dome snow globe with a woman figure among the snow which gave the fashion fragrance world a little shake of its own. After all, it’s not just how sweet the perfume smells, it’s whether or not it’s dresser worthy by style and design.

But it’s 2015 and long gone are the safe zone designs of boxes and corsets as it’s now acceptable to ‘toy’ with bottles shaped like mini handbags and even cuddly toys. Here are the top 5 most exciting ways to refresh worth taking into 2016.

  1. Moschino – Fresh Eau De Toilette £52 – 30ml – Moschino.com

The second fragrance directed by house runner Jeremy Scott should win perfume bottle of the year award – maybe even in history. This amazing cleaning product spray bottle inspired perfume has to be the coolest way to spritz and refresh. Albeit not handbag friendly, this is most dresser-worthy of 2015.

  1. Marc Jacobs – Decadence Eau De Parfum – £48 – 30ml boots.com

When it comes to fragrance bottles for Marc Jacobs if the designs aren’t bold and unusual than that would be unusual itself. But his newest bottle design for Decadence is essentially a very stylish mini handbag. With a light turquoise liquid shaping the place of the bag and black leather python effect material reflecting the opening finished with a gold chain strap this handbag design perfume has left us Marc fans on the edge of our seats to see what’s next.

  1. Moschino – Toy (unisex) Eau de Toilette – £80 – 50ml moschino.com

Although Toy was released in mid November 2014, it surely deserves a place in the top five especially as it is still a front runner for 2015. This was Moschino’s first fragrance under creative director Jeremy Scott and was launched exclusively in Harrods however, after such success it is now part of the permanent collection on the Moschino website. This design is an extraordinary breakthrough in the fragrance world and this ‘Toy’ is worth having for the novelty.

  1. Marc Jacobs – Daisy Eau So Fresh Sorbet Eau De Toilette – £56 – 75ml johnlewis.com

A typical ‘Daisy’ bottle filled with a delicate pink liquid finished with a bursting bouquet of purple and pink silicone appliqué flowers on the lid to finish the girl power design. Although Sorbet is a similar design to other Daisy fragrances which have been on the scene since 2006 – this one is by far the most feminine and softer looking of the collection.

  1. Vera Wang – Hippie Princess Eau De Toilette – £50 – 50ml boots.com

A strong, feminine and colourful design with a typical ‘Princess’ heart shaped bottle and a sharp teal centre.  This all over ‘hippie’ inspired Mehndi design has bold contrasting colours such as white, teal and shocking pink to create a shocking yet stunning piece of art. Dresser worthy and with the final touches of the fold jewelled crown and ring as the lid this bottle is fit for a princess’s boudoir.
