‘Brow’mare!

brows

When I hit 14 I became were aware that my eyebrows no longer acceptable in their natural state. I begged my mum to give them a pluck but she wasn’t having any of it. She would shout and say: “Your eyebrows look fine! Why do you want them gone when we’re all fighting to keep them on?”

Looking back, I can see that she was right.

I did once think of getting a razor out, but the disastrous eyebrows shaving scene from Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging kept that stupid idea in the furthest part of my mind.

Then there was an awkward stage in my life when everyone became extremely blind and began to see a resemblance between Whoopi Goldberg and myself. Though she is a talented woman, there’s a tiny detail people seemed to forget every time, and that was her non-existent brows.

This really baffled me as from some people’s perspective I had too much and others imagined I had none.

The whole Whoopi comparison would really wind me up, don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against sparse brows (as these can be fixed) but Whoopi reminded me of my Nan. She’d shave off her eyebrows and redraw them with a thick black liner, except Ms Goldberg didn’t even bother drawing them back on.

What I am trying to say is that we are basically spoiled for choice with the amount of eyebrow palettes, pencils and gels on the shelves of Superdrug right now but getting that perfect brow isn’t always as simple as ABC.

Some girls just over-pluck and end up with two Arc de Triomphes on each brow bone or look like they’re constantly trying to imitate Dwayne Johnson’s famous brow lift.

Before you decide to quit and  for the no brow or the thick 80’s brow option, allow me to let you in on my little, life saving brow product that will have your brows jiggling with joy faster than those kids on that famous Cadbury advert.

Sleek’s brow perfector has been my loyal companion for the past year. It’s small enough to fit in a clutch; great to create a natural brow shape while giving your face the oomph it needs to take on the day. For only £4.99, it’ll leave your Instagram followers screaming #browgoals.
