Fashion Brands Fenwick and Barbour collaborate to launch pop-up café

Lifestyle brand, Barbour has come together with fellow North East born department store, Fenwick to create the ultimate cosy pop-up: Barbour Tea and Toasties.

The café is running alongside an exhibition in London and comes as part of Barbour’s 30th anniversary celebrations of its iconic Liddesdale Quilted Jacket, designed and launched by Dame Margaret in 1994.

Tea and Toasties opened on Friday 4th October and will run up until Christmas.

The menu has been created by Fenwick Executive Head Chef Mark Reid and brought to life by their expert chefs using local, artisan suppliers and tea from Ringtons, founded in 1907 in Newcastle.  The theme of the café has been centred around Barbour’s iconic quilting, serving up branded tea and toasties.

Leo Fenwick, Strategic Partnerships Director at Fenwick, said: “Fenwick is incredibly proud to partner with fellow North-East icon Barbour for the Tea & Toasties pop-up. We are constantly looking for new and exciting ways to enhance customer experience and this partnership with Barbour, in celebration of the anniversary of one of their most celebrated pieces, allows us to offer something truly unique which we know our customers will enjoy.”

The menu draws on the brands’ roots with a fun selection of regionally-named toasties on offer including the Tyne & Moor Melt, filled with Berwick Edge cheese & Newcastle Brown Ale Chutney and The North Eastern, a chicken katsu breaded Northumberland chicken toastie with curry sauce, pickled cucumber and kewpie mayonnaise.

Both Barbour, in South Shields, and Fenwick are family-owned brands founded in the North East of England in the 1800s. The brands share a collective 272 years of history between them and still remain heavily rooted in the region despite their global takeoffs.

Both brands have previously collaborated in 2022 to create an outdoorwear collection, marking 140 years of Fenwick.

The quilted restaurant is tastefully decorated with Barbour decor, with tea being served to customers in matching quilted cosies. The café is welcoming walk-ins so no need to book in advance to keep warm with their range of tea and toasties.
