Fashion Students host their annual FDP Fashion Show

On Thursday 30th May 2024 BA (Hons) Fashion Design and Promotion degree students are hosting their annual fashion show at a historic venue. Durham Town Hall is the location and will provide a backdrop like no other showcasing the work of on-campus students & the students off-campus in Tashkent & Singapore.

Fashion students are preparing to host their annual fashion show at Durham Town Hall for the first time. The historic hall provides the perfect inspiration for the aesthetic theme of the show whilst also providing easy access for all visitors, travelling from London on the main train line and just off the A1 and A19.

Deputy Programme Leader and Senior Lecturer Naomi Austin could not contain her excitement about the show: “The BA (Hons) Fashion Design and Promotion degree is unique in that it covers every aspect of design and marketing including event planning. Every year our 2nd year students are assessed on planning, developing and hosting a fashion show.

“I’m delighted that we’re able to host our student fashion show in Durham Town Hall. The venue is stunning and as soon as we walked in the students were blown away by how beautiful the hall is; there was no question of where they wanted to host their show this year.

“We’re very proud of what our students have achieved over the past year so all 3 year groups will be showcasing their garments including live projects done in conjunction with Sam Weller Ltd. Barbour International and Neuthread by the charity Daisy Chain. We also run our degree in Tashkent, Uzbekistan and Singapore so we will be showcasing the work of our international students from our partner campuses – I’m sure it will be a brilliant night!”

Official Sponsors Sam Weller Ltd. and SDC Enterprises Ltd. As well as the International Development Team at the University of Sunderland has also played a huge part in ensuring the show goes ahead during some turbulent financial times and the staff and students are extremely grateful.
