With the spring weather blossoming and summer on the way. We looked at the upcoming trends for this spring/summer. During our search the Denim Chic trend stood out to us.

This trend has been in and out of fashion since the 1970s, first introduced as a way of recycling your old jeans, but that trend soon enough took off. The trend took off again in the early 2000s, although at that time everyone was wearing some sort of denim skirt, the 2000s was when the maxi skirt really popped off. The trend returned in 2014 with a sleeker less boxy look.

It is returning for a fourth time this year and this time in several different styles. Designers are incorporating splits and textured details, alongside raw edges to give them a retro/aged appeal. They are also experimenting with asymmetrical designs, with fishtail or wrap styles, to make this trend not look completely recycled. The maxi skirts now come in as either high-rise or even low-rise, as some people have different preferences.
The maxi skirt is great for both casual wear and possibly even going out day-drinking. It will look great paired with a matching denim item, which will also revive the double denim style of the 70s. You could also pair it with a bralette or tank top in the sun, or with a racer/biker jacket over the top if it’s a little chilly. We’ve also noticed that people are also pairing the skirt with an oversized shirt.

A popular footwear that the skirt is being styled with is the Adidas Gazelles, which first became popular in the late 60s and have remained popular ever since. Adidas Sambas also seem like a popular choice at the moment, which were popular in the 50s. We also found that people like to pair the skirt, with the popular Birkenstock clogs have made a notable appearance in many of the photos, which first became popular in the 80s. All of which go very well with the denim maxi skirt and a tank top or oversized shirt.

We think this will be a great addition to your summer wardrobe. It is also a great piece that you could also keep a hold of for the autumn time as we think it would look quite cute paired with a knitted jumper and some chunky boots.
