Fashion North reporter Isabel Coxon Vadillo reflects on her personal style journey from her love of fantasy and fairies in childhood to rejecting passing trends and adopting a classic, charming style with flair.
Although my personal style has evolved and matured these past few years, I always try to remain unmoved by passing trends. This helps me to maintain a wardrobe that past, present and future me would love.
From a young age, I have always been confident about what I liked and disliked when it came to clothes. This confidence in knowing who I am and the styles I like to wear has influenced me to come out of my introverted shell as I’ve grown older.
My love for femininity in fashion stemmed from my childhood love for everything whimsical.
Butterflies, fairies and fantasy inspired my creativity as a girl and these are interests I still embrace in fashion today.
Growing up my life was filled with travel. Trips abroad visiting family members across Spain and France meant I had to dress appropriately to manage the heat. I embraced flowy and airy clothes including dresses, blouses and skirts. Even now, I feel like my fashion doesn’t come into its true form until the weather picks up. I am at my most confident during the summer without the restrictions of jackets and layering I can explore the full potential of the pieces I have.
For me, looking put together and presentable on a day to day is very important. I enjoy experimenting with charmful and classy looks with a unique spin. Accessorising is the biggest contributor to the originality of my looks, I love nothing more than jewellery. My wide collection of chunky necklaces, bangles and rings started in 2021 with a rope necklace.
Since then, these additions to my everyday looks have helped me personalise everyday wear in a way I will always love. Overall, my influences will always come from fantasy and nature.
“My aim is to look like a modern fairy flowingly elegant pieces with bohemian charm.”
