From wags to riches: Victoria Beckham and Meghan Markle bring white suit chic to the red carpet
Victoria Beckham and Meghan Markle have both been spotted at red carpet events sporting elegant white suit looks. These stylistic choices are just another example of how the business casual aesthetic is taking over the fashion industry.
Victoria graced the red carpet in a classy, cream midi skirt, and blazer draped over her shoulders at the premiere of her new Netflix documentary. The former Spice Girl has recently taken her style in a more sophisticated direction hanging up her low waist, bootcut jeans and baby tees, to opt for chunky knits and tailored pieces. Although the star’s recent looks are stunningly stylish, we can’t help but miss her iconic 2000s WAG era that remain timeless.

This red-carpet look is a seamless continuation of her Spring/Summer collection that was presented at Paris Fashion Week and plays with structured blazers and suit pants against flowing ‘wet look’ fabrics. The line could be Victoria taking inspiration from recent social media fashion trends like ‘office siren’ styling, where content creators styled sultry business casual looks incorporating pieces like blazers and kitten heels, both of which have been seen in Mrs Beckham’s collection.

Meghan Markle stunned audiences in a very similar white pant suit with draping, styled by Balenciaga. The Duchess of Sussex’s relaxed fit silk set blends well with her timeless fashion sense. Since leaving the royal family, it seems Ms Markle hasn’t left behind her conservative sense of style but instead blended the look with her past, incorporating suit elements in true ‘Rachel Zane’ fashion. This blending of the classy aristocratic skirt suit and conservative necklines with the sultry corporate outfits in ‘suits’ marks as yet another indicator of business casual styling making its way into mainstream fashion.
