In her Instagram bio she claims to have been ‘stealing your man since 1928’. But now our favourite glam granny, Baddie Winkle, is stealing the limelight in Missguided’s latest party wear campaign.
Released on Tuesday, the campaign video shows the 88-year-old great grandmother dressed in a bright fur coats and sparkling mini skirts, spraying champagne over models and throwing piles of cash.
In a statement about the ad, Missguided said the concept was to pose the question: “who says you can’t slay at any age?”
Baddie Winkle – real name Helen Ruth Elam Van Winkle – has amassed over 2 million followers on Instagram after her great granddaughter posted a photo of her. Her wacky style caught the attention of celebs such as Miley Cyrus, who took her as her guest to the MTV VMA’s earlier this year.
Following in the footsteps of Yves Saint Laurent with Joni Mitchell and Celine with Joan Didion, Missguided are one of the first high street brands to move on from featuring young, 20-something models in all of their campaigns.
Could Baddie Winkle possibly be the most glam grandma in the world?
