How Lily James became Pamela Anderson

Pamela Anderson, 54 is a former actress and model, most known for her role as C.J. Parker in Baywatch, and for her highly publicised marriage to Tommy Lee, drummer of the rock band Motley Crue.

Pam and Tommy is a brand-new biopic series focussing on the infamous couple. The first three episodes became available to stream on Disney+ on February 2, with the rest of the episodes being released weekly on Wednesdays.

Actress Lily James, 32, who is known for playing the younger version of Meryl Streep’s character, Donna Sheridan in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again has now taken the completely different role, as young Pamela Anderson in the new Disney+ biopic.

Lily had to undergo a huge makeover in order to achieve the iconic Pamela look. In this interview with Harpers Bazaar, head of makeup on the show, David Williams explains that it took four hours each day to transform Lily into Pamela.

Makeup, hair, and styling were obvious factors to consider and execute. This was achieved with wigs, lace eyebrows, and extensive research into 90’s beauty and fashion trends. Prosthetics were also used, including the application of a ‘forehead appliance’ daily, to mimic a larger forehead. Acrylic teeth were used to give the look of veneers and to make Lily’s lips look larger.

It is one of the most impressive makeovers to be seen on TV and it may spark another return of the 90’s ‘blonde bombshell’ trend.
