hush dusty pink metallic skirt – £65
John Lewis is a store that I have never considered young, hip or cool and as a 19-year-old woman, I have never really had a good hunt for style tips for my winter wardrobe. On a recent visit to the department store, I found a number of collections that would fit a younger audience.
On my quest to prove that winter does not have to be full of dark colours, I picked out a £65 Marina Metallic dusty pink skirt by hush, exclusive to John Lewis. As soon as I saw it, I could imagine all of the different styles that I could pair it with.
I was already wearing fishnets and trainers which, to me, feels quite punk, so I decided to see if I could make this lovely girlie garment work and sure enough the pastel punk glowed out of me.
I thought about how else I could wear this. Pairing a sequined bralette and classic petticoat, matched with some sparkling earrings and clutch bag, teamed with a nude lip, and I think you would have the perfect alternative to a prom dress, or an outfit for a classy night out when you do not want to freeze in a mini skirt.
My final thought for the look was ‘hippie chic’. By adding a lace top and sandals – and even a high style flower crown – it would be a perfect look for your hippie and festival needs.
