Balmain veteran Kendall Jenner leads the Balmain Army out in style for Paris fashion week. Shortly followed by Gigi Hadid, the model powerhouses strike the audience with their bewigged new appearances as they saunter down the runway to the historic and edgy Parisian orchestra.

The show opens with natural, sophisticated tones of grey and crème long duster coats, feathered skirts and thigh-high suede heels. As the orchestra plays, the colour palette stretches to dusty pinks and duck egg blues with lavishing feathers and tassled details for a lavishing approach on the ‘girly girl’ look.

One thing stands out in particular – the Balmain trademark shines through with the cinched in waists, high necklines and chokers and very structured and tailored silhouettes.

Strolling down the dim-lit tiled catwalk, the minimal hair and make up allows the glamorous eveningwear consisting of lace, layering and stripes to boldly show through.

As the music emphasises, a more grown up, gold and black pallet is introduced by Joan Smalls, giving a very consistent style of eveningwear that can appeal to Balmain’s everyday ordinary girl. It’s simple, yet glamorous and oozes perfection, wealth and status to match with the classic soundtrack provided by the orchestra.

If opening the show wasn’t enough, Kris Jenner sits back in the FROW as she watches on at her daughter Kendall closing the collection. One thing is for sure – French designer Olivier Rousteing has certainly delivered, left us all pining for his collection and shown Paris how it is done.
