Purple Whimsy: What I Wore Today as a Fashion Student
Have you ever wondered what a Fashion Journalism student wears on the average day at university? Or perhaps you want some outfit inspiration?
Well today, we, the team at Fashion North, popped into the photography studio and took a few outfit pictures to show you!

Today I styled a dark navy blue tank top and black flared sleeve wrap cardigan, with a black thermal bolero underneath. Then I matched these dark colours with the dark background of my purple floral maxi skirt and black high top converse trainers.
I love wearing long skirts during the colder months, today I’ve paired it with black thermal tights for extra warmth- it was only 4 degrees Celsius this morning!

My outfit is inspired by 90s fashion and the ‘whimsigoth’ aesthetic that has been trending over the last few years. I have had such a nostalgia for older TV shows like Charmed, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Friends recently. The black converse trainers are reminiscent of the 90s grunge subculture, whereas the flared sleeve is an ode to the 70s boho trend.

I carried a purple and black polka dot umbrella that matched my outfit as it was raining outside today. I also included a silver chain belt and moon necklace for some added visual detail. The purple eyeliner on my lower lash line was the final touch to this look.
