Sam Fender’s Make-Up Artist to Support Local Charity in Fashion and Beauty Events
The Smart Works North East charity are starting off this summer with shopping opportunities and beauty experiences to transform your look after they announced that they are hosting two major fundraising events planned for July.
This will include a chance to get tips from singer Sam Fender’s and actress Andie MacDowell’s make-up artist in person.
The organisation was set up with the aim of supporting and empowering women who are struggling to get a job. They provide two main methods of assistance: interview/career coaching and personal styling.
The first event is ‘An evening with Jo Leversuch & John Lewis’, in which the famous make-up artist will be giving out an exclusive demonstration to attendees.
Leversuch is a renowned, North-East based make-up artist who has worked backstage at major fashion shows in London, Paris and New York. She has also worked with many celebrities including Sam Fender, Andie MacDowell, Sian Eleri and Laura Woods.
Smart Works explained that: “Jo is known for creating ‘perfect skin’ makeup looks for editorial, fashion, and music industry shoots [and she] will be sharing her expert tips for achieving natural makeup using minimal products.”
In an Instagram post in June, Leversuch described the make-up style that she will being demonstrating as “Jo’s signature look” and a “no-make-up make-up look”. She also characterised Smart Works as: “the most amazing charity, which I’m really pleased to be supporting.”
She continued, saying: “For me, this is just very important empower women and to give them a sense of being, a sense of confidence for the workplace, so this is right up my street.”

The event will also include seasonal styling advice from John Lewis Personal Stylists.
It will be hosted on the second floor of John Lewis in Eldon Square, Newcastle on Thursday 2nd July from 5.30pm until 7.30pm.
Tickets to this beauty event cost £25.00 with an £0.50 booking fee. Tickets are currently available to purchase from the link here. There is also an option to give an extra donation directly to Smart Works North East at the checkout.

The second event is a discounted clothing sale at Sunderland City Hall on Tuesday 9th July. The pop-up shop will include rails of high quality clothes from brands like Rixo, Varley, Mint Velvet, Fred Perry x Margaret Howell. All these items will be priced at 70% off the RRP.
Another one of the charities’ aims is to be sustainable and ethical, which means that the majority of their clothing items are sourced from retail partner brand’s excess stock or like-new individual donations.
“This is one not to miss!”, Smart Works explained, “After our very first sale in Sunderland last year, we are delighted to be back for another pop-up.”
This is a free entry event from 10:30am until 6pm on Tuesday 9th July, but if you want to have ‘first dibs’ on all the items then you can buy an early access ticket for £5 to gain entry to the 9.30am to 10.30am sale. To purchase an early bird ticket, then click the link here.
