Working from home often means video calls with colleagues or even fellow students.
And even though we’re allowed a few lazy days during this time of self isolation, we’re not really allowed to let the people we usually work with see, are we?
If you, like most of us have been told to work from home, be that in your lovely pristine office or just on the sofa in front of the telly, you might get roped into a video call. So if, and unfortunately when that happens, you will likely have to pull that hair down from a messy bun and throw on a semi smart looking shirt.
This huge surge of workers who are having to use various video conferencing software has proven to be a problem.
If you’re struggling to find a software that is free to use, there are some out there that are offering free subscriptions during these uncertain times. With millions of people now joining sites like Zoom, Teams, Skype and Microsoft it seems the sites are struggling to keep up. So don’t be disheartened if you’re feeling like you’re struggling a little bit, so is Microsoft!
The beauty of video calls is that whoever is on the other side will only be able to see you from waist up, so yes, you can keep your pyjama bottoms and fluffy socks on.
To help you with the inevitable video calls, we have put together a few half-outfits.
Of course self isolation means you shouldn’t run to the shops and buy any of these items so please, interpret as you see fit.
For those of you looking for something smart with a twist
Just because you’re staying inside, it doesn’t, by any stretch of the imagination mean that you can’t dress up a little bit. The blue and white striped shirt is perfect for a casual but still very smart look, the earrings are beautiful and will top off your half-look just nicely.
For those of you who might be a little bit chilly
We’re ever so slowly creeping out of the colder months but we all know it is still absolutely reasonable to be wearing big cosy jumpers so if that’s what you’re going for then this is perfect for you. The jumper is so gorgeous it doesn’t even need accessories but of course we have recommended one anyway. Because the jumper is high neck, a casual necklace would work well, we went for a rose gold coin.
For those of you who already think it’s summer
This top is the perfect mix of smart and sexy, it gives the illusion of an off the shoulder top but has the safety of the thick straps. The simple silver (or gold, rose, or black) tops off the look beautifully, the black adds a slight statement while keeping casual and sophisticated and obviously, keeping track of these long days indoors.
Having to stay indoors is not fun for anyone but I hope that at least maybe dressing up a little bit, even if its just for a video chat might help keep the boredom and stress at bay.
